Asoebi Order Page

Pick the pieces you'd like and we'll pass everything to the tailor.

Thank you — you have been selected as a representative of our family to join us in wearing the Asoebi, and it would mean the world to us to have you stand with us in this one family look; at the wedding the family will wear black formal wear with gold accessories, such as a long black dress, a black suit or black traditional wear (we are not ordering these items here — this page is only for the ipele, gele and fila you'd like the tailor to make for you), while non-family guests will wear all black with silver accessories if they'd like.

What Asoebi means

Asoebi comes from the Yoruba words aso (cloth) and ebi (family) — so it literally means family cloth. When a family chooses one fabric and everyone wears it, the message is simple: we are one, and we came together.

At a Nigerian wedding the asoebi is how people show whose family they stand with — relatives and close friends wear the chosen cloth, and the sight of many people dressed alike is a visible blessing: unity, honour and support for the couple. To wear it is to say I came, I stand with you, I am counted as family. The ipele, gele and fila are how that cloth is worn — the finishing touches that turn an outfit into the family look.
